Celiac Disease and How To Be Gluten-Free!
Hi, I'm Deb and this is my site! I live in the central mountains of Colorado, just outside of Aspen. I've visited alot of different places in my life and consider myself blessed to be able to live where I do.

I am a full-time real estate broker and have had my license since 1993. I' ve raised three kids that are now in their 20's and 30's.

I had never heard of Celiac disease until I met my mother-in-law back in 1997. Everything that she told me about Celiac disease made me think that many of the problems that I was having were the result of Celiac disease/gluten intolerance.

Although I didn't stop eating gluten containing foods when I first found out about Celiac disease, the next few years made me think very seriously about changing my diet. I was always bloated and had a stomach ache constantly from something that I had eaten. I was constipated, I had no energy and I ate Tums and Rolaids like they were candy.

I have been gluten-free and have not eaten anything containing gluten since 2001, which has proved challenging, since most foods contain some sort of wheat, barley, or rye products. It has been especially difficult to shop at the grocery store.

I have spent countless hours examining product labels, reading books, scouring the internet and asking manufacturers about which products are safe for Celiacs to consume.

I have baked my own bread, cookies, cakes and pies using my own gluten-free recipes. I have entered my gluten-free pies and cakes in the local pie and cake contests, and last year I won first place in both divisions!

I have converted all of my regular recipes to gluten-free through trial and error. You would never know that everything I make is completely gluten-free.

Through more than seven years of research and experimentation, I have amassed a treasure trove of information that will help other Celiacs learn how to live with, and manage their disease. The only treatment for this disease is a strict gluten-free diet for life.

I've brought all of this experience together in the form of the book I wish I'd had when I discovered  I was gluten intolerant/Celiac - it would have made my life so much easier.

The book is a user-friendly, comprehensive guide to understanding and living the gluten-free life, which includes an explanation of Celiac disease and it's symptoms, history, diagnosis and treatment.

It also includes a must-have, easy-to-use, itemized grocery-shopping guide with thousands of gluten-free, brand-name products, and dozens of my favorite, gluten-free recipes.

The book is pocket-sized so it can easily be taken with you for quick reference. It will fit in your pocket or your purse, I intend for this book to be a constant companion, a sort of Celiac bible.

As more and more people are diagnosed with this disease and are becoming more aware of their health and nutrition, the concept of gluten-free living will soon become an American way of life, a household name.
